NYFW | February 2017

This year's fashion week was amazing as I was on the other side of the show for the first time. Yes, I was actually an attendee to fashion week as opposed to working it! I attended a total of five shows with some fellow blogger friends of mine from Charlotte and Baltimore. In between shows we were able to eat good food, catch up and fight the NY cold weather. I gained so much fashion and professional inspiration from attending and I look forward to it every season. My week began on Saturday, February 11th as I met up with one of the girls to attend an event held at a cool space with art work. We networked with other fashion influencers and went for drinks and food afterwards. It was very cold so I chose a fashionable, yet very warm faux fur jacket paired with "easy to walk in" boots.

Forever 21 faux fur jacket | Forever 21 suede brown jacket | Aldo boots | Zara bag | Amazon aviator sunglasses

After dinner we visited 63 Gransevoort for custom leather designer Christian Benner's show. This show had a unique, rock-n-roll club type vibe. The models were scattered around the venue displaying the wonderful pieces. These pieces are def a must have staple for my fall wardrobe!

The next day which was Sunday, February12th; I decided to go a little trendier since I knew I would be spending majority of the day inside the shows rather than roaming the city.

I attended four shows at Style Fashion Week's venue. The amazing designers consisted of: Chapman/ McIntyre, Antidote from Norway, Antinoo from Norway, and Project Runway Allstars winner, Mondo Guerra. I loved every single designer's piece and the details were much appreciated since I had a front row seat!

It's safe to say that I had an amazing time at fashion week this year. Over the course of being in grad school, I've worked so hard during my internships in New York and to finally be able to enjoy shows on my own is so rewarding. I also uploaded my first official Youtube vlog for this trip so be sure to check it out and subscribe to my channel.

There's definitely more where that came from so continue to stay tuned my lovelies!

Founder's SLAY | Alpha Kappa Alpha

Forever 21 top | Forever 21 skirt | Jessica Simpson heels | AKA bag & scarf

I was blessed enough to be able to celebrate my 4th Founder's Day this year with some of my sorors in Charlotte! We went to lunch and the movies to see "Hidden Figures" (which might I add) was AMAZING. I decided to go for a "classic" look by pairing this off the shoulder top with an A- line skirt. I tied in both the pink and green by adding an AKA scarf to my bag and the pearl choker was a last minute gem that I found in the Forever 21 accessory section. This look was kind of "out of the norm" for me but I loved it for the occasion! As always, links are above. Thanks for reading and until next time lovelies. xoxo tashjmackk

Outfit Transition: Day on the Town to Night at the Museum

It's always a good weekend when you have a fully planned Saturday! If you live in New York you know that convenience is a major key. I like to keep it simple when it comes to my outfits by wearing comfy, but still "event appropriate" shoes. I started my day off by going to lunch with some of my colleagues and then we enjoyed a day of shopping. Later that evening I went to an event at the Brooklyn Museum so I decided to switch it up a bit. Using the same jacket, shirt and hat; I was able to create two different looks. Who else gets all dressed up just because they're excited it's a Friday?! Inspired by Rihanna's latest look, I wore this button down shirt that I thrifted years ago. I paired it with some boyfriend jeans and my lovely Public Desire Dior inspired boots. I loved how the pink and blue looked together. Shop some similar items below!

Home Is Where the Heart Is

Charlotte (n): Pronounced /ˈʃɑːrlət/ is thlargest city in the state of North Carolina. Char(LIT) describes the amazing culture, growing population, and overall vibe that the "Queen City" has. Charlotte is home for me. Charlotte raised me, gave me amazing friends, and taught me valuable life lessons. Charlotte gave me the strength and confidence to move to New York and pursue my career. Though my talent and hustle takes place in New York right now, my heart never left Charlotte.

My friends over at 91+North sent me this Char-"LIT" tee and I had to rock it immediately. The creators are both native Charlotteans who moved to different states to pursue their careers, which led them to appreciate and love their hometown even more. Giving back to the Charlotte community is what we all stand for as successful women because what is success if you don't share it with others? When you purchase a tee, a percentage of the proceeds go towards the #Impact91 campaign, which helps impact the lives of young girls in the Charlotte community. Purchase your own tee HERE

Thank you again 91+North, and thank you Charlotte, for everything.

10 Fall 2016 Fashion Trends

10 Fall 2016 Fashion Trends

So as we are approaching the end of this very HOT summer, now is the perfect time to begin gathering your fall wardrobe essentials. All “Summer 16” we had our fun with nudes, bright colors, and let’s not forget our off the shoulder craze. I’ve already researched and gathered what will be 10 top fall 16’ fashion trends so take a look below!

1. The Choker

Yep, that’s right we will still be obsessing over our 90s inspired choker trend. The only difference for the fall is that we will be able to play with more metallic and chunkier chokers to go along with our fall colors.

2. The Leather Skirt
Leather (or pleather) skirts is one statement piece that will be perfect for this fall. The unique texture can make any outfit stand out from the crowd. It also serves as a good transition piece to rock into winter.

3. Velvet
Velvet has always been a sexy fabric for the cooler seasons. Crush velvet ankle boots and dresses will be killer this fall!

4. All Metallic Everything

Don’t believe the myth that metallic is only popular on New Year’s Eve. Anything metallic will be on trend this fall. Metallic jewelry and shoes can pop any outfit, as well as those bomb metallic nail polishes.

5. Burgundy and Spicy Mustard Shades

Warm shades of red are in every fall season and go with just about anything. Another color trend that will be popular this fall is spicy mustard. It is a statement color and might I add, looks radiant against our beautiful melaninated skin!

6. Denim on Denim on Denim
This 70s trend is definitely making a comeback this fall season. Pairing denim tops with matching bottoms will surely make you turn heads. You can rock a casual denim outfit or dress it up; either way it’s for sure going to be on my ready-to-wear list!

7. The Structured Bag

You can never go wrong with a good structured bag on your shoulder or hand. Whether it’s color-blocked or solid, these kind of bags will complete any outfit you wear this season.

8. Frayed Denim Culottes

Ok so i’m already obsessed with this trend but it’s going to be even better in the fall when I can pair it with my velvet ankle boots and a clean turtleneck.

9. Over the Knee Boots
These kind of boots would be considered another easy transitional piece for the fall/winter seasons. You can easily throw on a pair with a dress or a t-shirt and when it starts to get cooler add a bomber or pea coat and you’re good to go.

10. Suede
Last but definitely not least is anything suede. Once again, another 70s classic. Neutral colored suede skirts, hats and dresses will be so on trend this fall. The smooth texture adds some great depth to an outfit and can be worn in both the fall AND winter!

Summer Black

Topshop Bodysuit | Old Navy Culottes | Forever 21 Clutch | Steve Madden DIY Fur Heels

Who says you can't wear black during the summer? These breezy Old Navy pants helped me stay cool in the weather and they were so comfortable! I brought out my Steve Madden heels which I added feathers to in order to add some sass to this monochromatic look (tutorial on these shoes are in the blog archives). As always, the links to this outfit are italicized above in the description. Thanks for reading!
