What to Wear | Day Party

As we approach the month of March, we prepare to get excited for much warmer weather in most places. Nothing says spring and summer like attending those epic roof-top day parties and social events. Picking out an outfit for day parties can get pretty tricky at times. You don't want to be too dressed up for the occasion, but you DO want to get fly and make a statement. Lucky for you, I have the perfect outfit ideas for you to choose from in order to get a head start on your spring/ summer wardrobe. Don't forget that you will be hugging friends all day so I have provided a fragrance for each outfit. Get day party ready! Choose your favorite look below: (Links provided)

Glamour Day Party

Nothing says spring like an outfit full of vibrant colors and mixed prints. I paired a pink crop top with Kenzo printed tapered pants. To complete the look, I added a Zara cut out sandal bootie and a matching clutch from Luc Luc. Throw a watch on your wrist and your favorite shades and you're ready to mix and mingle! Fragrance of choice: Chloe

Casual Day Party

Who says you have to be colorful during these warmer seasons? Change the game up and wear a darker color palette. I chose an olive green jacket with a white Acne Studios v- neck underneath. The weather will most likely be temperate so let your legs make an appearance with these Topshop "mom" distressed denim shorts. Because your shorts are so casual; pair the outfit with these Kristin Cavallari heels. Lastly, to accessorize add a stylish hat and a gold necklace! Fragrance of choice: Nude by Rihanna

Chic Day Party

For this next look I decided to go a bit dressier but still casual at the same time. I picked this chic white blazer with a tropical print MSGM crop-top underneath. To add some texture to he outfit, I chose these Acne leather shorts. To complete the outfit I added these chic Nasty Gal sandal heels with a matching Tom Ford clutch that you can wear on your shoulder or in your hand. Fragrance: Chloe

Sexy Day Party

Last but certainly not least; it's all about the legs with this one. I started off with a cream River Island crop- top and paired it with a white blazer on top. I then chose an asymmetrical "skort" to compliment the crop top and blazer. Don't be afraid to add a little drama by pairing the outfit with these thigh high heels; which will definitely be a hot topic at the party. With the right accessories this outfit can go a long way. I topped it off with a royal blue Paul Smith clutch and some round Chloe shades. Fragrance: Yellow Diamond by Versace

It's a Big Deal

H&M is one store that always has the greatest weekly deals. They have boots on sale for as low as $15. I recently purchased these lovely leather patented boots for $15 and they are so comfy! My boots arrived one day later than the expected delivery date, so they returned a portion of the sale back to my account for the inconvenience. Can we say an "A" for customer service? Unfortunately this particular style is sold out but they have a lot more similar styles for great prices and quality. You can never have too many black boots right?

Style Muse of the Month | February 2015

Kelyn B. Greene

This month's Style Muse is a fun, unique, fashionable college student who uses the college campus as her own runway. We got the chance to sit down and talk to Kelyn about all things fashion!

Introduce yourself. My name is Kelyn B. Greene, I'm 21 years old, and I am an engineering student from Baltimore, MD.

How would you best describe your style? Innovative, because to innovate is to “make changes in something established, by introducing new methods, or ideas”. I follow trends but I add my own twist to them, creating a style that isn’t extremely out of the ordinary but still makes a statement.

Who is your biggest style crush at the moment? I LOVE Rihanna. Her style is so effortless.

Where do you get your style inspiration from? I had an internship with the Stylist and Owner of Katwalk Boutique, Toni James. She constantly talked down on stores like Forever 21 which was my favorite store at the time,  and is also a popular store in my generation. She always mentioned how everyone dresses the same. Working and styling with her is when my style really started to evolve. I then went through a period in my life where I invested a lot of time into fashion websites such as Lookbook.nu and Tumblr . Those sites are where I saw a lot of great styles that inspired me. Soon, it just became effortless to piece together a great outfit.

Being in the engineering career industry, how do you balance your style in the professional work office? Any fashionista should know what outfits are appropriate for certain events and environments. When it comes to an interview I am as basic as it comes. Black suit, white button up, black business heels. Companies do not care how well you dress but they care about what you can deliver. On the other hand...once i get the job, the office is my runway. I keep it conservative yet fun which is always exciting. Instead of plain black slacks, I would wear my favorite bright orange high waisted, wide legs.

What is one closet staple that you simply cannot live without? My White Mongolian lamb fur vest! Its so obnoxious, yet so fresh! It gives any and every outfit a pop and it is definitely a show stopper.

We love your style so much and we're dying to know; do you plan to take your love for fashion to the next level in a few years? In the next few years I want to be a “fashioner”. Full time engineer, part time stylist. I interned with an amazing woman named Keiona Siler, who like myself went to school for engineering and was a fashion lover (her style is out of this world). She works full time with an engineering firm and works part time with Macy’s as a special events stylist. I can see myself following in her footsteps and doing just that.
